Carnegie Mellon University

Byeongseong Choi is a PhD student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering since January 2019. He is currently working in the Surface Heat Assessment for Developed Environment (SHADE) project, and his current research aims to develop a probabilistic model for regional temperature fields by approximating computationally expensive dynamics to analyze relative vulnerability against extreme heat events within the urban area. Byeongseong previously worked for a year as a field engineer in DAELIM Industrial Co., one of the top-tier construction companies (especially for bridge engineering) in South Korea. At DAELIM, he helped check the structural safety and manage the construction processes. Byeongseong holds a MSc and a BSc in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Seoul National University.
