Elvin is a third year PhD Student in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department at Carnegie Mellon University. His doctoral research investigates demand-side technologies that will grant the necessary operational flexibility for the sustainable integration of renewable energy in the power system. His approach focuses on leveraging advanced models and controls to enable buildings to become grid-interactive autonomous assets. In particular, he is focused on the development of scalable and accurate load flexibility models for commercial buildings suitable to meet the requirements for advanced reliability-based grid services.
